Snow Leopard Tour

Snow Leopard Tour

Mongolia is home to the world’s second-largest population of the elusive Snow Leopard. Our Snow Leopard tours attract wildlife enthusiasts eager to observe these magnificent cats at lower altitudes (2,200–3,000 m) than in most other countries, increasing the chances of sightings. Tours are scheduled during periods when the likelihood of encounters is highest.

Note: While we cannot guarantee a Snow Leopard sighting, our experienced guides make every effort to locate them. Participants should be prepared for several kilometers of hiking up and down over rugged terrain at altitudes of 2,200–2,800 m.

Brief itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar, followed by a visit to Hustai National Park to see the iconic Przewalski's Horse and the graceful Mongolian Gazelle.

Days 2–11: We will fly to western Mongolia and spend 7–9 days exploring the stunning Altai Mountains in search of the elusive Snow Leopard. In the surrounding plains, we will also look for the endangered Saiga Antelope.

Day 12: A city tour of Ulaanbaatar, including a visit to the Mongolian History Museum.

Vehicle: We use Toyota Land Cruiser 4WD vehicles for our tours. We prioritize our clients’ comfort, with a maximum of three passengers per vehicle.

Accommodation: In Ulaanbaatar, we will stay in a modern hotel. Away from there, we will stay in a basic yurt camp.

Climate: The climate during February tours is generally cold, with temperatures typically ranging from –20°C to 0°C. Conditions become somewhat milder in March, with temperatures varying between –10°C and +5°C. Snowstorms can occur at any time throughout the season.
